Times sure have changed, haven't they? It seems like just yesterday when students were worrying about losing pencils. Today they're worrying about Wi-Fi connectivity. It seems the older I get the more I realize I need to keep up with the times and move forward as an educator.
What would you do if you had more one on one time with each student? Sounds like a dream, doesn't it? Are you searching for ways to reach that reluctant writer and meet your writing standards at the same time? ASCD Author, Joyce McCleod, recommends teachers spend
60 minutes a day on the writing and grammar lesson. However, lack of time is one of the top reasons why writing and grammar instruction is neglected. Wouldn't it be great if most of your lesson could be Independent Practice time?
Teachers tell us on a regular basis that they just don't have enough time to:
Teach all of the standards
Prepare engaging and effective lessons and teach them
Find adequate time for students to actually practice the skills thoroughly enough to be prepared for end of the year tests and the next grade level
Meet with students to provide feedback
