Teacher Suzanne Klein discovers ways to be highly effective in boosting K-5 literacy/writing skills in Michigan. She teaches all elementary grades including a Title I literacy program.

National Coaching

After presenting her successes at the Michigan Reading Association annual conference in 2002, Suzanne accepts a position coaching teachers throughout the nation, giving professional development workshops on Balanced Writing for the Bureau of Education Research.

Writing Consultant

Suzanne serves as an independent writing consultant, modeling lessons in over 400 classrooms and presenting district-wide seminars to help K-5 teachers improve writing instruction.

WriteSteps Launches

Suzanne launches WriteSteps in response to frequent teacher requests that she share her modeled lessons. WriteSteps pilots 2nd and 3rd grade lessons, subsequently adding lessons for other elementary grades due to popular demand.

WriteSteps Expands

WriteSteps expands its staff and gains over 2,000 teacher users while continuing to provide professional development services for K-5 teachers.

WriteSteps Common Core Launches Nationally

WriteSteps adds master teachers who redesign its lessons to address the Common Core Standards in writing and grammar, using the same successful approach that has become a WriteSteps hallmark. WriteSteps Common Core launches nationally on the first day of school.
